MAKÜ strengthened its internationalization vision at EURIE 2026

The 11th Eurasian Higher Education Summit (EURIE), organized by the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) this year, was held on April 7–9, 2026, at the Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center with the participation of the President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar. Speaking at the summit, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar shared information about YÖK's goals regarding quality, digitalization, and sustainability within the framework of the "Vision of Turkish Higher Education Towards 2030."
Representing Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University at the summit, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy and International Relations Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömer Gürkan Dilek held meetings with many university representatives and academics on internationalization strategies, student and academic mobility, bilateral and multilateral cooperation opportunities, and joint research projects.
At the summit, which is one of the leading higher education platforms in the Eurasian region, bringing together higher education institutions from different parts of the world, university administrators, experts working in the field of international education, researchers, and academics; many current topics such as international trends in higher education, international student mobility worldwide, the Erasmus+ program, international projects, digital transformation, and quality assurance were addressed in 50 parallel sessions by 150 expert speakers. The education fair organized within the scope of the summit, with the participation of nearly 100 higher education institutions and other stakeholders from different countries, laid the groundwork for the development of new academic collaborations, international projects, and student and faculty exchange programs.
It is evaluated that these meetings, which will provide significant gains in line with MAKÜ's goals of expanding its international academic networks and increasing its visibility on a global scale, will contribute to strengthening MAKÜ's position in the Eurasian higher education area.
